How Does Ablative Laser Resurfacing Machine Works?

Ablative including the 10600nm fractional CO2 laser machines, it using the 10600nm wavelength to target the laser on the skin tissues. During ablative laser resurfacing, an intense beam of light energy (laser) is directed at your skin. The laser beam destroys the outer layer of skin (epidermis). At the same time, the laser heats the underlying skin (dermis), which stimulates collagen production over time, resulting in better skin tone and texture.

Examples of ablative lasers are CO2 lasers and Erbium YAG lasers. Some non-ablative laser treatments (where the laser passes through the skin without removing layers) cause little-to-no pain and require only a topical numbing cream to offset discomfort.

Your skin usually heals completely in two to four weeks. A new layer of skin covers the wounds after two weeks. In most cases, after about two weeks, patients can use makeup to conceal their skin tone. After the procedures, the skin can remain pink and red for many months afterwards.

Ablative lasers work by removing the outermost layer of skin, helping to deal with issues such as scarring, hyperpigmentation, and skin laxity. By contrast, non-ablative apply stress by heating cells in deeper dermal layers, warming them up to the point where they begin to produce new collagen.

Although not pain-free, ablative laser treatments are generally very well tolerated. We ask that you arrive at least one hour prior to your appointment as this allows us to apply a strong topical numbing cream to the areas being treated.

  1. Redness, swelling, itching and pain. Treated skin may swell, itch or have a burning sensation.
  2. Acne. Applying thick creams and bandages to your face after treatment can worsen acne or cause you to temporarily develop tiny white bumps (milia) on the treated skin.
  3. Infection.
  4. Changes in skin color
  5. Scarring.

The effects of laser skin resurfacing are permanent when it comes to issues such as scarring. Once a specific scar is gone, it will not come back. However, with regard to the visible signs of aging, the results are not permanent
